Turf Care Named One of Canada's Best Managed Companies in 2022

TORONTO, ON, May 10, 2022  - Turf Care Products Canada has been recognized for the second year as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Canada’s Best Managed Companies continues to be the mark of excellence for Canadian-owned and managed companies, spotlighting the top privately-owned companies with annual revenues over $50 million. Every year since the launch of the program in 1993, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies have competed for this designation in a rigorous and independent process that evaluates their management skills and practices. This year's winners highlight their strategic planning, adaptability, and commitment to their communities as key factors contributing to their success on a global scale.

“The pandemic has changed the way businesses operate and these winners have responded by transforming and pivoting their companies so that they are leading the way forward for the future,” said Dino Medves, Senior Vice President and Head, CIBC Commercial Banking.

Turf Care is continually seeking ways to make it easier to do business with us, from increasing our product offerings and expanding our sales & service coverage model, to launching a new, expanded eCommerce platform. Through the growth and evolution of the company since Turf Care’s start in 1975, something that remains unchanged, however, is an unwavering commitment to customer service. “In an ever-changing world where more and more business is done remotely, one of Turf Care’s differentiation points is that we still believe in doing as much business as we can face-to-face with our customers, allowing us to continue to build and nurture longstanding relationships,” says Turf Care’s President, Tim Trimper. Over the past two years, despite being forced to temporarily adjust the face-to-face customer interaction that the company has been built on, those long-standing loyalties and customer relationships have been key to Turf Care’s ability to prosper even in the face of a pandemic.

“It has also become increasingly important for businesses to foster collaborative workplaces where employees are empowered to make valuable contributions to their organizations,” said Lorrie King, Partner, Deloitte Private and Co-Leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “This year’s Best Managed winners embraced a people-first mentality, enabling employees to cultivate important capabilities and integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives into their core strategy. By prioritizing employee wellbeing and championing professional development, these companies have been able to harness an engaged talent pool to explore new ventures and set the course for continuous improvement and growth.”

Turf Care’s staff of 150+ employees spread across 7 offices in Ontario and Quebec are at the heart of everything we do, embodying the company’s values and mission, and helping to grow and shape the business as we move forward. With a strong emphasis on workplace culture and community, Turf Care is proud to support a variety of employee-led social and community outreach initiatives.

Applicants are evaluated by an independent judging panel comprised of representatives from program sponsors in addition to special guest judges. 2022 Best Managed companies share commonalities that include (but are not limited to) putting their people and culture at the forefront, focusing on their ESG strategies and doubling down on accelerated digitization.
